2012 "Terra Incognita" Group Mosaic Exhibition, Pennsylvania College of Technology, June 30-August 28. Yulia Hanansen's "Starscapes" series of mosaics will appear in this 5 artist group show. 2011 "Starscapes" solo mosaic exhibtion of Yulia Hanansen's work was show at CMS Gallery, Chicago Mosaic School. May 2009 "Great Lakes Ecosystem" wins a Golden Paintbrush award from Ann Arbor City Council for an outstanding public art project. September 2008 University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens project has been completed and installed. Opening dedication date: Saturday, September 13, 11:30am at the Gardens. July-August 2008 Challenge: bring in your favorite cherished object and a story that goes with it, and Yulia Hanansen will create a mosaic around it especially for you! First 3 commissioners will receive a special gift from Yulia. Yulia taught a "Mosaics out of Stained Glass" workshop in Chicago Mosaic School. "Visitor" (see home page for image) has been exhibiting in "Connecting 2008" University of Michigan Alumni show. May-June 2008 "Starscapes" series is developing for the Fall solo show at the Mosaic Sphere. Estimated project completion date: Oct 2008. Estimated show openning date: Friday, October 17th, 2008. "Stained Glass News" publishes a full page article about Yulia' work. The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens project is almost complete. Last session date is May 27. Grouting date and party will be announced. Work has begun on "Cities and Eternity" series. Jan-April 2008 A work has begun on a "Starscapes" series that will feature a multitude of star systems, individual stars and beautiful interractions of stellar bodies with each other. The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens project received new location approval. This is a community volunteer project that will be designed and supervised by Yulia Hanansen. Project will picture 8 large scale mosaic panels completed by volunteers and installed on the outside wall at the Botanical Gardens. Tentative completion date is mid May 2008. More info to follow. Grand Opening of "Chippewa Creek" mural for Medina District Library has generated a lot of positive response. People felt that the project is an important addition to their communities' collection of public art. Ms. Hanansen will be teaching at Chicago Mosaic School the course on "Mosaics out of Stained Glass" Dates: July 17-20, 2008. Sign up with CMS. Ms. Hanansen will be teaching a workshop on "Back-splash Mosaics" during SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists) conference in Miami, FL. Dates: April2-3, 2008. Sign up with SAMA. Dec 2007 "Tunguska: Regeneration" small mosaic travels to South Pole. This mosaic was donated to an Ice Cube project for their art gallery. "Rebirth of Carnival" diptych has been accepted to the Mosaic Arts International Exhibition. This is an annual show of mosaic artworks that come from many contries, and that have been selected by a jury. This is the 4th time Yulia's work has been accepted to this highly ranked mosaic show. First three shows were in San Francisco CA, Chicago IL, and Mesa AZ, respectively. The newest show will be held in Miami, FL in March-April 2008. Ms. Hanansen has been invited to participate in "Inspired by..." Contemporary Mosaics and the Historical Tradition, a juried invitational exhibition of Mosaic Art. Exhibition will be held at the University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA, fall 2008.
